What is a Touchscreen?

A touchscreen is a device that can receive input signals from a finger or a rubber stylus. When a graphical button on the screen is touched, the haptic feedback system can drive various connected devices according to pre-programmed instructions, replacing mechanical button panels and creating vivid audio-visual effects through the display. Touchscreens have a wide range of applications, from common ATMs and POS systems to industrial touch computers.

Types of Touchscreens

Touchscreens can be classified into resistive, capacitive, and wave (acoustic, infrared) types based on their principles. A resistive touchscreen consists of two layers of glass, both covered with a conductive layer of indium tin oxide, separated by small insulating "spacers." The outer layer is a thin glass or plastic that is softer and will dent slightly upon touch, while the lower layer is a thicker, harder glass. The spacers prevent deformation over time, avoiding short circuits even when not touched.

Considerations When Purchasing a Touchscreen

  • Touch Software
The touch software is the soul of the touchscreen. Different manufacturers use different touch software. It is recommended to try writing on the touchscreen before purchase and to experience switching between writing tools.
  • Paint Quality
The quality of the paint directly affects the user's evaluation of the product. This includes the quality of the touchscreen's body both inside and out. The interior should be rust-proof and rust-resistant to ensure the device does not rust under prolonged normal use. External rust typically manifests as an uneven surface, followed by bubbling and, in severe cases, peeling paint. Ideally, the appearance should be smooth, without significant bumps, and the surface should be glossy and colorfast over time.
  • Safety
The safety of the touchscreen’s control circuit, including the safety of circuit design, the safety and convenience of interfaces, the effectiveness of electric leakage protection and overload protection, as well as heat dissipation.
  • Safety of External Structures
This includes the quality and thickness of the materials used, the safety and convenience of external interfaces, the safety and convenience of power operations, and the stability of the equipment placement.
  • Rationality of Internal Structure
The internal structure of the touchscreen should facilitate the installation and disassembly of the touchscreen, display, computer host, and other external devices without affecting the quality of the integrated device during assembly and transportation. A reasonable internal structure also reduces and facilitates after-sales service.
  • Timeliness and Durability of Supply
  • Is the performance-to-price ratio excellent?
